candlor. forgot the name for a second. we have been driving all morning long, showing you some of the snow. as dale was saying, we are expecting much more tonight for areas already seen winter weather. they have closed or delayed school and you can find those on the ticker. we have video that shows more would it look like overnight yesterday with accumulation on the ground and along the higher elevations of north carolina. this is king street in boone with up to four inches expected in this part of the mountains. you can see the american flag with been around in that winter wind. that area got about one inch of snow. once again, very cold this morning. about 27 in the mountains and chilly in the upstate. bundle up before heading to work or school. aly myles wyff news 4 live in waynesville. patrick: thank you.

hits, the wyff 4 mobile app lets you track the latest and get closing alerts. now to a school consolidation proposal in pickens county. allyson: the school district wants your input on closing three elementary schools at the end of this school year. the district's facilities committee approved the plan and sent it yesterday to the full board of trustees for consideration. the plan would close a.r. lewis, holly springs, and amble elementary school. that would send 600 students to dacusville elementary and middle schools, as well as hagood and pickens elementary schools. parents hearing the proposal weren't happy last night. >> you know, they've spent millions of dollars on the facilities and building the facilities and now we're going to close them. allyson: the school district says closing the schools would save almost $12 million over five years. they want to know what you think at their public input meetings. they are at 4:30 wednesday

there is a rally scheduled at 7:00 at the t ed garrison arena for donald trump and it is free but you need to attend -- you need to reserve a ticket online. trump will also hold a rally next monday at the t.d. convention center in greenville. marco rubio will also return to the palmetto state wednesday. he's holding a rally in spartanburg, then heading to columbia. he'll end the day in charleston. patrick: rubio will be in the palmetto state until saturday. that's the day of the latest gop debate, taking place right here in greenville at the peace center downtown. the debate starts at 9:00 p.m. this will be the final debate before the gop south carolina imary february 20. to local politics now, north carolina state attorneys are trying to delay redrawing congressional districts. this video shows raleigh yesterday, where the attorneys filed the emergency petition to a federal court for an emergency stay. the federal court struck down two majority black congressional districts in the state friday. they said race was the predominant factor in drawing

swain, all the way up to haywood, madison, yancey and mitchell under a winter storm morning. there has been enough snow to caused schools to close in many counties highlighted in pink. other counties are being watched closely to see what happens today and tomorrow. we put our future plus forecast in motion. more flurries expected along the tennessee-north carolina border through the afternoon, tonight and half of tomorrow. by wednesday afternoon, it tapers off at 3:00, 4:00. whatever falls will linger for several days because of bitter cold temperatures. 20's in the mountains, low-to-mid 30's across the upstate and piedmont. it feels colder with that 10 to 15 mile-per-hour wind. greenville feels like 24, hendersonville feels like 12, so if you will be working or playing outdoors today, dress warmly. 40 may be the best the upstate

live, local, breaking news with geoff hart, allyson powell, and weather with meteorologist dale gilbert. this is wyff news 4 today in high definition. patrick: this morning, officials say two high school students from turkey county died in the crash last weekend. sky4 video shows the scene in york county. 17-year-old dominic -- dominick galosi and 18-year-old shemar byers died. troopers say the gaffney high school students were passengers in an suv that left the road, and hit a fence, and a tree. the driver and another passenger ended up in the hospital. allyson: an update now to a fire in greenville county that displaced several people this weekend. investigators say the fire satuday morning at huntington down apartments started outside, then spread indoors. the fire marshal tells us the fire started on a patio before it spread to the roof and attic. the apartment manager says 14 people were forced to move out. greenville police are asking for your help finding three men connected to an armed robbery this weekend.
